PUBG Supporters: Smart NPC Era Begins with NVIDIA ACE

PUBG: Battlegrounds is set to add non-player characters (NPCs) powered by NVIDIA ACE AI technology. Dubbed ‘PUBG Allies’, these NPCs will be able to chat with players in real-time and adapt their strategy in-game to the player’s style. This innovation was introduced by Krafton at CES 2025.
PUBG Allies: Common Playable Characters
The new NPCs are designed as ‘Common Playable Characters’ (CPCs) that accompany PUBG players and act as teammates. By analysing what happens during a match, CPCs can communicate with players and develop strategies that match their play style. This makes the player experience more immersive.
Krafton’s Future Plans
‘We will continue to innovate the user experience by integrating CPCs into our games, and we aim to make this technology a standard in the gaming industry,’ said Kangwook Lee, President of Krafton’s Deep Learning Division. Not limited to PUBG, the company also prepared a CPC demo for the life simulation game inZOI and presented it to gamers at the CES event.
Impact of NVIDIA ACE Technology on Games
NVIDIA’s generative AI platform, Avatar Cloud Engine (ACE), was first demonstrated at Computex 2023. This technology was previously utilised in the multiplayer game Mecha BREAK and was showcased at Gamescom 2023. Krafton utilises ACE-powered on-device small language models in its games.
