Apple Intelligence Shows Rapid Increase in Storage Usage!

Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is taking up more and more of the unused storage space on your devices. At its launch in September 2024, Apple’s AI service required 4 GB of available storage space, but just four months later, that space had grown to 7 GB. That’s almost double the amount of space it takes up on a device.

The increase in storage requirements first appeared with the introduction of iOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2. These versions were first released to the public in early December and expanded on the initial Apple Intelligence features that came with iOS 18.1 and Sequoia 15.1. The December update introduced two productive AI features: Image Playground, which creates images based on user prompts, and Genmoji, which allows users to create their own custom emojis.

Get ready to sacrifice more space

One of the reasons why these features require so much space is that Apple Intelligence operates on the device. Therefore, models that support the features need to be stored on the device.

The interesting thing is that Apple Intelligence does not yet have all its features. Apple continues to develop this application. Therefore, it may soon be possible for this 7GB space to see 15 – 20 GB.
