Gemini and ChatGPT rival artificial intelligence comes to Android!

Challenging Google’s dominance in the field of artificial intelligence assistants, Perplexity has launched its smart assistant developed for Android devices. The new tool, called Perplexity Assistant, aims to go beyond answering questions and help users with their daily tasks.
Perplexity introduces artificial intelligence assistant for Android
Perplexity Assistant will use the company’s language comprehension and reasoning skills to provide support on a variety of topics. It will perform many different tasks, from making dinner reservations to finding forgotten songs, from drafting emails to setting reminders.
The assistant aims to make things easier with features such as search, collaboration with apps and contextual awareness. For example, it can set reminders, search for restaurants, and even use the device’s camera to identify objects in front of it.
Those who want to download Chrome to Windows will be in for a surprise!

The competition between Microsoft and Google has heated up. Microsoft Edge started hiding Chrome download links on Bing.
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas demonstrated the capabilities of the assistant with examples he shared on X. In these demonstrations, it was seen that the assistant could understand the user’s intentions and perform various actions. Perplexity Assistant is not yet fully integrated with all necessary applications and services. For example, if the restaurant is not listed on platforms such as OpenTable, the assistant cannot make a reservation.
However, the company stated that it is working to overcome the shortcomings. Accordingly, Perplexity Assistant will soon be able to read Calendar and Gmail accounts so that it can summarise emails and appointments through notifications.
The AI is available free of charge for all users and can be used by downloading the Perplexity AI app and setting it as the default assistant. Accordingly, the assistant is switched on by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds, as with Google Assistant.
